A meeting of the 50 families

GOP Executive Director Tony Post is in North Carolina for a Republican National Committee meeting, where the national GOP will plot strategy and elect a chairman.

Normally, Chairman Tim Rave would go. But Rave is in Pierre minding his legislative duties in the state Senate, and Post is serving as his proxy for the chairman vote. Rave/Post are voting for Reince Priebus for another stint as national party chairman.

On top of the agenda is a strategy to win the Senate in 2014. The GOP lost a good chance to do so in 2012, and they have another favorable field in the midterm.

South Dakota’s race in 2014, Post said, is at the top of the RNC’s list.
