Good thing our air show isn’t this summer

Rep. Kristi Noem was in Sioux Falls this afternoon to talk to the Great Plains chapter of the Military Officers Association of America. Of course, a major topic that the retired military officials asked about was the sequester and its impact on the military.

Rick Tupper, who is retired from the Navy, noted that the Navy sent a notice that the Blue Angels flying stunt team would be grounded if the $85 billion in cuts go through for this year. Tupper, who serves on the executive board of the Sioux Falls Airshow, said it’s a good thing Sioux Falls isn’t having an airshow this summer. The last one was last year, and they have them every three years.

Tupper called the effects of the sequester on the Navy “extreme.” He got a few laughs when he said, “I’m glad we’re not having an air show this year. Please fix that by 2015.”

By the way, the airshow last summer was awesome. Especially the Blue Angels.
